Ireland was wonderful however. We had a day and a half to explore Dublin. Of course, this wasn't nearly enough time to go out and see the really cool stuff, but we did our best.
Some Irish mood music courtesy of Youtube and Celtic Woman
Dublin Castle
Apparently Justice is under construction
Palace Gardens
Part of an Irish design exhibit. Don't they look comfy?
Sometimes you go out meaning to be a Literary Tourist, and sometimes the Literary Tourist experience finds you...
We also stopped by the natural history museum.
Irish Elk. I learned about these in my geology class, so it was really cool to see the skeletons for myself. You may not be able to tell, but these creatures were huge.
Golden Eagle, one of my favorite animals.
Seals!
This fish, I kid you not, was the size of a small car.
A slender loris. Cool, but not as cute as a Slow Loris, which is chubbier.
I don't remember what this is. A Japanese mouse or something, but I love it.
An Irish wolfhound. These dogs were used to hunt deer and boar. They were also used in war to pull soldiers off of chariots and horses. This guy is only a few inches shorter than the polar bear behind him, who is actually on a taller platform. That said, Irish wolfhounds will make friends with anybody.
A Tasmanian Devil. I don't know where they get the name devil, because they are cute.
I don't think these animals were stuffed particularly well. The tiger looks weird, and the puma looked absolutely psychotic.
Coaster Coats of Arms. I have no use for coasters, so I just took pictures.
A reconstructed cave dwelling using old carved stones.
A dugout canoe which is upside down for some reason. If you can't tell, it was ridiculously long.
A viking doodle.
There was a Yeats exhibit at the Irish Library
Another accidental Literary Tourist moment.
Trinity College, which currently houses the book of Kells, an ancient illuminated manuscript containing some of the gospels.
Just a little statue of Christ in a box in the middle of the street. No big deal.
