Mary Poppins

What does the title have to do with this post? Absolutely nothing whatsoever, I just feel funny. You see, I never have to take math ever again! That's right, I went to math for the last time today. Just don't ask how the final went. I studied. But I think my brain has been misplaced. Or I would think so if it hadn't been. Now read over the last paragraph. Don't you agree I need my brain back?

In other matters, I got my painting portfolio back, but I'll let it speak for itself. I'll try to arrange them from least favorite to favorite, but just enjoy.
Abstract- definitely not my thing

Watercolor- only slightly more my thing

Black and White exercise, my first project

Temepra Batik

Monochromatic,(sort of).

Landscape- the Uinta Mountains

My favorite: we got to choose our subject

Prom

I had a great time at Prom with Tannen. We played night games and made pizza on Friday and went to the dance on Saturday. I felt pretty special getting all dressed up and going to the dance with an old friend. He is so funny, he danced the whole single ladies dance for everybody there. It was hilarious.

I answered him with a picture from first grade. We were so little then!

Tannen and Me

Difficulties... yeah, mom ended up fixing it.

You don't get to dress up like a princess often, so of course we took lots of pictures.

My beautiful corsage.

No more high heels!

I've performed four times in the last week, hence the title. Girls only like to play dress up for few hours, and then they like their tennis shoes. I played for the senior citizens, for Brittany's seminary, my own seminary, the school's art day, and had a grand finale my region Solo and Ensemble competition on Saturday. And then region band was today. I'm pooped. However, I got Superior ratings on my solo, Concertino, and will be going to State at the end of the month! I'm tired but excited for the opportunity. I plan to knock the judges' socks off. (Let's just forget that I was terrified the night before region, shall we?) Thank goodness for father's blessings-it made all the difference.

After Saturday Conference, Robyn, Brittany, and I went and ate 'till we were sure to pop at Canton City and saw Hunger Games. In the way of reviews, it was well done, and followed the books much better than most movies, but why watch the movie when you can actually read the book? And judging from the reactions of other people in the theater, not everybody got that it was a social commentary...

My scores are getting better in AP English. So far I've gotten a 7/9 on one of my essays, which is the highest anybody has been getting in that class. Grading is brutal... college English sounds so much easier now.

I met my roommates through e-mail this week. They sound like really fun girls and I am excited to go to BYU and meet them in person. I can't decide whether to be excited or scared... the meter sways depending on my mood at the moment.

Now I'm just looking forward to spring break in Arizona. I am going to sit outside and do and think absolutely NOTHING for a whole week.

I love to see the Temple....and sparkly shoes.

I had to scramble to finish this Monochromatic painting (I still turned it in late) but it was a lot of fun, and I'm pretty pleased with it.

Sweet Carter left this in my room for me to find after school. What a cute kid!

My friend Holly and I went to the Provo temple this weekend. It felt wonderful.

We stopped at the mall on our way home because I needed another pair of shoes (my poor running shoes are getting tired). I have never been clothes shopping without my mom. It was terrifying, but I felt really brave. I was surprised with myself: I bought shoes that were both pink and sparkly. I'm not really a pink and sparkly sorta gal...but they make me smile every time I see them.

I got on facebook and saw that people had been accepted and rejected to BYU. I started crying I was so scared, and the boys wanted to know what was wrong. I logged onto my application and started shouting and crying from relief. My prayers really have been answered. I'm so excited to attend BYU this fall. I am relieved that everything is going to work out.

Winter Blessings

I woke up this morning and was annoyed because there was a scraping sound that wouldn't stop. I looked at my clock and realized the power had gone out. It hit me that it must have snowed. Yesterday the snow was patchy and the streets were dry. Overnight we got dumped on, and it's still snowing. I have never been so excited to shovel snow. I was singing praises as I ran out the door. I was worried that we would burn to a crisp this summer without the snow. It is a beautiful blessing. The snow makes everything clean and quiet.

I got 96.88% on my college algebra final. I will never have to take it again. I know that was a blessing, I struggle with math.

I gave my first talk in sacrament today. That's right, I made it 17 years without giving a talk in sacrament. It went well, and I wasn't even that nervous once I got up there.

Everyone pray for me: BYU sends out acceptance e-mails in the next three weeks. Pray that I get in, and pray that if I don't get in my temper-tantrum won't be too bad. I can't wait!!!

Got'ta love kids...

We babysat a few young kids last Sunday. The oldest was a five year old girl. She saw me and looked and my mom and asked, "Is SHE your kid? She's all grown up." She looked at me and asked, "When are you getting married?" I was struck dumb. Mom finally explained that I still had to meet my prince charming. That little girl made my day. If only life was so simple.

I got asked for my signature this week. That's right, two shirts and a basketball. Two little boys, maybe seven years old came and stated that I wasn't a basketball player, but I was with the band, so would I please sign their shirts and ball for them. I was very flattered. Only kids would think that a band geek was cool enough to get a signature from. They proceeded to get basketball players, band members, cheerleaders, and the drill team. Everywhere they went, faces lit up, they were so cute. Thanks, Hakim and Nate, for making everybody's day at the basketball game.
